This Lakeview loft conversion with a panoramic City view, had one small dated bathroom. The Owner wanted an elevated quality master bath with a separate custom shower and a soaking tub. Space was a big issue

We repurposed a washer/dryer closet located in the front foyer to make room for a custom shower, and relocated the washer/dryer from the entrance foyer, to an alcove between the bedroom and the bathroom. Adding a door from the bedroom and a frosted glass French door into the bathroom, created the quiet, secluded “spa” the client hoped for.

“I live in a condo on the top floor of a 100+ unit complex in Lakeview. My unit is a 2 bedroom 1 bath with lofted ceilings, and precast concrete floors. I wanted a bathroom with a separate shower and soaking tub. I met with several contractors who all told me that the only option for moving or adding plumbing would be to build the new bathroom on a 10” high platform. Marc at Masters was the only one who identified an existing l stack in the laundry closet that could be used for the new shower, so no platform.
I was also looking for a company that had experience working with condo complexes and their Associations. Masters had the experience and would work directly with the property manager.
Masters model is to provide labor and materials in an “all-in-one” package. Their price was all inclusive except for design or scope changes. They kept to their price and were reasonable on the scope changes initiated by me. Their price was the highest I received, but the quality of the materials was high: Commercial grade porcelain, Grohe fixtures, Kemper custom cabinets, and quartz counters and details. I got what I paid for and the quality of the work was also quite high.
Masters not only had to demo my place, but moved walls, created new doorways, and built a custom shower from scratch. The final work took 11 weeks in total. Most of the work was done by one quality tradesman who took great care with every detail. Working in a condo has its challenges, like remove the debris by a small service elevator, and needing to locate and arrange with the owner of the unit under mine, to connect a drain through her ceiling.
I sublet an apartment during the remodel. The project took longer than estimated, and Masters was able to accommodate me moving back, with a working tub/shower, sink, and toilet.
In the end, the work done was magnificent. Like any project there were small tweaks. Masters came back and fixed these items within a week, and provided me with a 5 year warranty.
One of my concerns was making sure that the Contractor could work with Security (for elevator access etc.), and would not rub the other condo owners the wrong way. When I checked with security, they told me that my Contractor was one of the most polite and accommodating they had worked with. That was smooth sailing.
I learned through this experience that you have to know your priorities before selecting a remodeler. Some promise short time lines or lower budgets, but may need to resort to “quick solutions” and sacrifice quality. In the end I wanted high quality, great service, and the best possible design solution. If that’s what you are looking for then, yes, I would recommend Masters Kitchen and Bath.”
