This 1940’s raised ranch, in Chicago, has a dated oak kitchen with a unique soffit lit with fluorescent light. From the living room a small pocket door leads to the generous kitchen area. By widening the entry and using the same new floor throughout both spaces we were able to join the living room and kitchen; creating a more open and inviting arrangement. The dark cabinets lend themselves to the light recycled glass backsplash and quartz countertops. With the addition of a large island the new kitchen design offers plenty of storage, ample seating, and all the food prep area any chef would desire.
