This large open kitchen stretches from the back of original 100 year old home, into the more recent addition. The 30+ inch difference in floor level presented some challenges as did the large awkwardly placed windows. These clients are serious about their cooking, but struggled to make the existing kitchen work.
Removing two windows and bricking in the opening freed up a substantial amount of cabinet and counter space. By rearranging the appliances we created an ideal work flow and adding a large angled island provided comfortable casual seating for family and guests. A badly placed laundry room facing the entry foyer was repurposed into a walk in pantry off of the kitchen. A long blank wall just outside of the kitchen now features an elegant espresso stained wine bar.
